The extreme sport also known as canyoning involves walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, rappelling and swimming through a river either upstream or downstream. The 5 points are for the art style and some actions scenes I liked, anything else is just for his shadows and the likeable character which seems livelier than MC His snarks and personality weren't the same as his old weak self, it's like he has nothing but a max leveling person for a (I wouldn't even call) personality. MC also gets lesser and lesser 'humane' the more he levels up, even with the 'love interest' and his families. It's basically like auto playing a mmorpg games at this point lol. MC keeps leveling up which make sense, no stakes the moment he reach certain level which make sense, BUT instead of focusing on something else like side characters development or building up plot, they focus on MORE mc action AGAIN which gets boring the more I see it (cannot even imagine if I read the novel). Maybe even characters I'm going to get to know and be fond of! NOPE Like a previous review said, the beginning was interesting and there's something I'm waiting for, just good plot building. It definitely won't hurt to read, especially if you like monster vs human themed story.

Also unlike with Gantz, there's close to no fan-service here, which may or may not be a plus point for some.Īnyway, the story wraps up nicely in 179 chapters and while I may not be a very big fan, it's nice story and art is fine.
That being said, with such story of monster vs human, Solo Leveling has something that can rival Gantz for me: sort of endless carnage with few intrigue into hunter community, though at some point he start to come and win just like that. But following that, he just sort of hack and slash pretty much everything that come his way, it gets kind of monotonous. There is certain attractiveness in how Jinwoo gained his infinite growth early on, there was a dungeon with tricky puzzle that was quite fascinating to see. I think the first few chapters of Solo Leveling is kind of deceptively dragging me into reading the whole thing.
In fact, the background is our lving world with addition of gates where monster dwells and hunters ('awakened' people) can go to kill mobs and get drops.
Well, there is that element here, but not quite what SAO was. I was under impression that solo leveling is usual online game setting where people can get into an online server such as SAO to play some game.
